The Lakritz Forum is a community of artists, thinkers, environmentalists, writers, professionals, and curious minds who believe that meaningful change begins with conversation.
Created as an extension of Lakritz – A Place of Seeing, the Forum brings together people who share an interest in contemporary culture, environmental awareness, intellectual exchange, and the role creativity can play in shaping a more thoughtful future.
At a time when much of modern life feels fragmented and fast-moving, the Forum creates space for slower, deeper conversations and genuine human connection. It is a place where ideas can be explored across disciplines and where relationships are built through shared experiences.

The Annual Gathering
The centrepiece of the Lakritz Forum is an annual weekend gathering held at Lakritz on South Africa’s Wild Coast.
Over the course of three days, members and guests come together for a curated programme of talks, discussions, exhibitions, walks, shared meals, and cultural experiences. Topics range from contemporary art and environmental stewardship to philosophy, science, creativity, community, and the challenges of modern life.
Set against the backdrop of the Wild Coast, the gathering offers an opportunity to step away from daily routines, engage with new perspectives, and build meaningful relationships within a diverse and intellectually curious community.
The event is intentionally intimate. Conversations continue around dinner tables, in the Art Garden, during forest walks, and long after the scheduled programme has ended.
