Coming Soon

The Lakritz Material Lab is a future space dedicated to artistic experimentation, material research, and creative exchange.

Currently in development on an African farm that hosts the Forest of Return reforestation programme, the Material Lab will provide artists, researchers, writers, designers, and environmental practitioners with an opportunity to explore new ideas within a unique rural setting where art and nature meet.

Designed as both a studio and residency space, the Material Lab will encourage experimentation across disciplines and materials. Visitors will be invited to engage with the surrounding landscape, participate in environmental initiatives, investigate sustainable practices, and develop projects inspired by the relationship between creativity, ecology, and place.

Construction is scheduled to begin September 2026, with the first residency and research programmes planned for the second half of 2027.

As the project evolves, the Material Lab will become an important part of the wider Lakritz ecosystem, connecting contemporary art, environmental stewardship, cultural dialogue, and creative research.
